It's time for Festival du Voyageur again! Here is an amazing video from Travel Manitoba that shares the beautiful area where the Festival takes place: Here are some fun Festival activities... First, we have la gigue de la Rivière Rouge. The teacher is sharing the dance for a different reason for another celebration, but it is still a very well-known dance seen often at FdV: How to make and play your own spoons! Making your own instruments: Feel free to find other activities and songs we used for Festival du Voyageur last year at this link: engbrecht.weebly.com/music-online/archives/01-2021

We were learning movements and a drum pattern for this song recently. Here is the video so you can sing it at home! The drumming and movement we learned was from the talented music teacher and musician, Garth Prince, who is a Namibian-Canadian children's performer! Many music teachers had the honour of learning from him at the Tempo Music Conference in the fall of 2021. Share the drum pattern and movement with your family! Such a fun song! If you are missing doing some music today (I have students come up to me and ask when their next music class is all the time) here is some drumming, also with Garth Prince: Folklorama has these amazing virtual performances on their YouTube page! Check this one out of TiBert, who often performs at Festival du Voyageur, and has even performed at our school in the past! |
