Here's some ideas to have fun at home!
Have a dance party! Create a family playlist of everyone's favourite tunes and dance together! Play cards or board games! What music would you listen to if you were playing games together? We often have music playing in the background while we play cards together at my house. Visit a virtual museum! Here is a LINK to a music virtual museum tour with Google Earth! You can walk around the National Parks with Google Earth... Very cool! Here are the Canadian National Parks in this link. Here are the National Parks in the US: Click this link HERE! Many everyday items can be instruments! Whoa! That means you can gather many safe things, with the help of your parent/caregiver, to use to create your own music pieces! Now all of the sudden, you can see your whole home with different eyes... a music studio just opened up! Maybe you could all create a piece together! Here is another one! Feel free to share your creations! You can share to your SeeSaw page, if your classroom teacher uses it, or other platforms your family uses! If you pick Twitter, don't forget to tag us at @StGermainLRSD ! Look! Even Jimmy Fallon is getting into playing objects around the house! In class, I quite often play different little sections of the Fallon Show because they do such amazing music things, like their Classroom Instruments series, a capella music with guests (particularly the Star Wars Theme with many actors from Star Wars!) and other great pieces with different guests (The Lion Sleeps Tonight with Billy Joel is a favourite in class). Did you know you can learn to play the drums... without a drum set?? It's called body percussion! Ensembles like Stomp! use body percussion in a lot of their pieces that they perform in their Broadway play! Here an amazing example: Check out lessons for how to play body drums at Little Kids Rock by clicking on the picture below: Take it further: Create your own drum pattern!
Hello everyone! All lessons created here may start with an online video or game to help you move offline and create or play your own music. However, if you would like the entire experience to be offline, here are some musical ideas in the document below! Have fun!
